Six days in Houston TX

My sister-in-law and her husband came to Houston for a week’s holiday. We didn’t let the weather get in the way and in a week managed to give them a great holiday.

This is what Alex and Bob got up to on their trip and some ‘things to do’ while visiting Houston.

  1. Pass some pleasant hour in Rice Village Bars –  Little Woodrows, Gorgeous Gael & Kelvin Arms.
  2. Take a trip to San Antonio – The Alamo, The Riverwalk and have some lunch at a genuine Texan Steakhouse.15
  3. Visit Gruene on the way back – drop into Gruene Hall, Vineyard Bar and experience some FREE live music.
  4. Pop to downtown Houston & experience a a trip up to the 50th floor of the Chevron Office which is a 691 ft (211 m) tall skyscraper.  (The building has 50 floors and is the 11th tallest building in Houston).
  5. Grab a tour of the River Oaks area of Houston – River Oaks is the wealthiest and most expensive community in Texas and among the top ten in the United States.  Real estate values in the community range from $1 million to over $20 million.
  6. Visit the Johnson Space centre at NASA Houston.  Sit in the VIP gallery at the Apollo Mission Control centre, tour the facility, see a real Saturn V rocket as used in 60’s & 70’s Apollo missions, see one of the 747 Space Shuttle carriers from the 90’s and a real size Space shuttle replica.3
  7. Detour back to Houston via Clear Lake near Kemah – one of the most exclusive vacation areas in the Houston greater area.
  8. Witness 200 year return rainfall, thunder and lightening.
  9. Road trip to Dallas, visit Southfork Ranch, stay at a Market Centre Hotel, drink in a Downtown Dallas bar, visit Dealey Plaza, see the exact spot where JFK was assassinated, the Grassy Knoll and the 6th floor museum. Have lunch at two fantastic “genuine” Texas home cooking pit stop restaurants – “Poor Richards” and “Something different”.25

Alex and Bob covered in excess of 1100 road miles……

And watched Sunderland beat Norwich City while having breakfast…..

And of course listened to some awesome guitar music…. ; )
